“Miracle Mile Girls” is a short film which follows the lives of two struggling actresses as they deal with the daily trials and tribulations of the Hollywood scene. The project was inspired by the real-life experiences of its creator, screenwriter and first-time producer Magda Marcella (See Photos Above and Left).
The film stars Sid Veda, Andrea Harrison, and Magda herself. Along with Marcella, the production was helmed by Andrea Harrison (co-executive producer), Kristin West (line producer), Armin Nasseri (assistant producer), Harrison Reynolds (cinematographer), and Kate Marzullo (director). The short film has also inspired a new web series by the same name.
Marcella stated that a large part of the team hailed from Texas, having lived and/or studied in Austin. Other members of the cast and crew came from various parts of the country, but all now call Los Angeles their home. She added,” We learned that there is always a way to see a project through to the end, no matter how many mistakes or obstacles one has to go through”.
Founded in 2004, The Cannes Short Film Corner gives aspiring filmmakers from around the globe an annual slate of industry meets, workshops and conferences that deal with strategic industry issues. Magda Marcella and co-star Andrea Harrison will be attending said Cannes gathering in just a few weeks, with hopes of making new connections in this our ever-fickle industry.
